Every decision the state board of education has made should now be called into question

The decision to set academic standards based on race was perhaps their biggest blunder. Ignoring poverty and blaming skin color was such a colossal gaff that is should call in to question all the other things they have championed.

Perhaps people will begin to realize that both merit pay and standardized tests have evidence that says they don’t work, and vouchers and charter schools have evidence saying they don’t improve academic outcomes. And evidence, not ones gut and facts, not what sounds good should drive our academic decisions.

For to long our leaders have been steering us in the wrong direction of corporate solutions that just don’t work. Its time to switch course with leaders who champion our public schools and want to fix them with solutions based on evidence and facts.
