First there were the articles about the acrimonious contract negotiations that were taking just a little to long for a few school board members, including a couple out-going ones and then today there was the article about how Paula Wright initially voted against hiring Nikolai Vitti, presumably because we are paying him to much, not because we didn’t bring in her pick Kriner Cash.
This petty public squabbling does not send the new superintendent the right message. We don’t need to give away the kitchen sink and we don’t need to be giving high fives but we need to be coming together. Duval County has an opportunity to start a new era but thus far the board is looking like it is going to more of the same; their egos superseding the needs of the district.
