Why are charter schools good enough for Duval but not good enough for St. Johns?

This is a question school board member Becki Couch asked in the Times Union the other day.  “If they’re not good enough for the students of St. Johns County,” Couch said, “why are they good enough for the students of Duval County?”

I can answer that Mrs. Couch. It is because charter school operators see dollar signs when they look at Duval. The sad truth is rich kids get taught, poor kids get tested.

That is also a question we should all be asking!
